March has become a special time for our family as we celebrate the birthday of the legendary Dr. Seuss.  My kids tremendously enjoy anything featuring ‘The Cat in The Hat’, especially when a new release DVD correlates with an easy reader book.  Oh, the pleasure we had in reviewing ‘The Cat in The Hat Knows a Lot About Space!’ generously provided by NCircle Entertainment.  The opinions expressed in this review are strictly my own and I was not compensated in anyway.  Come along on a journey with us as we explore SPACE and enter to win a DVD/EASY READER GIVEAWAY! Explore the Solar System with Nick, Sally & of course The Cat as they embark on a journey into space.  The thrills of a cosmic adventure searching for a robot, introducing them to a space rover who lands himself in a predicament, which launches ‘Operation Rover Repair.’  Surviving a dust storm, rocketing through an asteroid belt, finding their way out of a gravitational pull and ultimately finding their way safely back to the space station is all part of the action packed moments featured in this DVD.

‘There’s No Place Like Space’ easy reader brings to life the solar system in a fresh rhyming way, and introduced us to some new vocabulary that we were able to connect later while watching the DVD.  The concept of introducing children to words beyond their understanding, provides some wonderful interactive moments between the reader and listener.  My kids were able to ask some really great questions and add lots of comments all while listening to this story of space.  I always try to pair books with DVD’s so their learning style is enhanced to a greater capacity.

My Final Review Thoughts

  • Recommended age preschool thru upper elementary, although anyone who enjoys ‘The Cat’ will enjoy watching and reading about Space
  • Approximate running time is 60 minutes, which is long enough to captivate children of all ages
  • There is some really great resources for further reading located in the back of the easy reader
  • The glossary provides simple definitions to help the listener or reader understand the vocabulary used throughout the book
  • With the impeccable rhyming on each page my kids were able to predict which rhyming word came next
  • My 6-year-old was able to read most of the words, with help, in the easy reader
  • I felt comfortable knowing that my kids were watching high quality educational entertainment

Finding your own way to explore the world of Dr. Seuss, and The Cat in The Hat, with your family makes for wonderful cherished moments of learning together.  It is always exciting to watch a child learn something new and expand their knowledge in a deeper way.

Thanks For Reading!
