Sweet Ritual…

The sweetest, most cherished, moment of the day is often times putting our little ones to bed.  This review, of I’d Rather Be Your Mommy, may be a new-found routine for your family.  As part of the Homeschool Review Crew we were asked to review Home School Adventure Co. newest book I’d Rather Be Your Mommy.  What a delight this was to share with my children and create a forever moment.  Journey with me as we explore what makes this book so very special.

It seems that our lives have become so rushed that we are missing moments that are priceless with our children.  Creating a ritual of reading this book at bedtime, or any other time of the day, is a beautiful way to not only connect with your child, but it conveys the message that mommy is present in this moment.  Stacy Farrell, the author, does a really great job of describing how life would never get in the way of being the mommy I am to the child I have been given.  The beautifully illustrated and detailed photographs are fantastic prompts for questions or discussion starters between the reader and listener.  My 5 year-old sat amazed at the babies that were displayed throughout the book, and kept asking questions about herself as a baby.  She became so curious as to her ‘baby world’ she will never remember, and wanted me to share with her stories of what she did, acted like and places she went.  It was a most cherished moment of connection between us.

Two Resources That Coordinate With The Book:

  1.  The coloring book pairs nicely with the actual book, and is a great resource to reinforce what they are hearing each night.  My daughter enjoyed coloring her own I’d Rather Be Your Mommy Coloring Book Edition.  This is a digital edition you can purchase and print out any of the pages individually.

2.  The other resource is the I’d Rather Be Your Mommy Print Set.  These prints showcase some of the beautiful photographs featured in the book, and it would be a wonderful way to display the powerful words that are being read to your little one.  The prints can either be purchased or downloaded in a PDF format.

One of the neatest purposes with the purchase of this book is that a portion of every sale is donated to support the work of ShowHope.org.  This organization helps children who are orphans find families who will love and care for them, by engaging the church and reducing barriers to adoption.  What an astounding way to help those in need around us.

I am so thankful that I was able to be a part of this review, because sometimes as a homeschooling mom I just need a little extra help to create a better routine than what I had previously.  I encourage you to get your own copy of this book and start exploring ways you can create a new routine for your family!

Thanks For Reading,
